Introduction
The Global Innovation Index report (or GII) is a publication by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Given its prominence as a yardstick for countries to measure their innovation performances against other countries, Malaysia has adopted the GII ranking as a key performance indicator in the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMKe12). In RMKe12, Malaysia has set a target of reaching the 20th GII ranking position by 2025. Given the growing interest, in 2021 Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) officially established the Jawatankuasa Pemandu Inter-Agensi Pemantauan Daya Saing Global Innovation (JIPGII) to monitor Malayis’s GII ranking for the next year ahead. The JIPGII committee comprises members from different ministries and agencies, with both MASTIC and MIGHT being the joint-secretariats. Considering the many stakeholders that need to be engaged by the JIPGII secretariat, seven designated lead agencies have been appointed to coordinate and communicate with their respective stakeholders from each of the seven pillars
